Bobs & Ombre.

shoulder-bob
ombre
I have loooong hair. I love long hair. But honestly? I havent been able to regularly style it in quite sometime. I could get away with wet, wavy hair in the summer, but as the cold creeps in, it's just not cutting it anymore. Because of this, I find myself longing for a new 'do. I've been loving pictures of shoulder-length bobs, especially those of the wavy variety. I've never been a fan of shoulder length hair- it feels non-committal like you aren't up for a long coif, but you aren't brave enough to hack it off. But at this point? It seems like the perfect not too long and not too short length.

Also, I've been loving two tone hair. It seems like a fun, but low key way to spice up your 'do, but manage to avoid getting roots at the same time.

What do you think? Are you a fan of these styles? Are you a short hair or long hair person?

curly(ish) hair.

swoony swoon swoon swoon
The other day on Twitter I asked about curling mousse. In general, I would say I have straight hair. Every once in a while, when the weather is just right, I can scrunch my hair and get a pretty decent wave. I love this 'do on hot summer days when I can't bring myself to turn on my hair dryer.  Sometimes it works great, other times it flops. So! Here's where you come in. Are you a wavy-haired, scruncher? What are your tips & tricks? Favorite products? Pleeeease share :)

ta da!

Thank you so much for your advice and sweet comments yesterday! By far the vote was for bangs, which is what I was leaning toward anyway. I took the plunge and while I don't regret getting the cut, my stylist wasn't that great. I lost the hairdresser I'd had since high school last year and haven't really found one since. I kind of panicked about getting my haircut before a blogging conference I'm going to this weekend and a trip to my brother's graduation next week. So I didn't do my due diligence and ended up with a new stylist. I don't hate my hair, but I'm also not obsessed.

So, here's a before and after. Please ignore the iphone quality. And I know the after photo makes my hair look lopsided, but it's not. I don't think.

Bangs or No Bangs

Tonight I am getting my hair cut. Length-wise I'm not doing anything drastic. I just need some fresh ends that don't end up in a mangy rats nest every morning. On Saturday I saw a girl with some rockin' bangs and it made me wonder if I should get bangs again. So I'm turning to you for advice. What do you think? Bangs or no? I'm taking into consideration cuteness factor and also, how annoyed by them will I be chasing a baby at the park all summer?

A couple of my favorite bang shots:

a messy bun

12-french-bun-hair-how-to_sm

I've told you about my struggle to have cute hair since having a baby. Things haven't really changed. I shower almost everyday, but still struggle to blow dry my hair.  Therefore, I'm often out and about with long, straggly hair. This messy bun would be a perfect solution! I'll be sure to try it this week and let you know how it turns out.

Do you have any quick & easy hair styles to share? Please do!

Holiday Hair

My plan today was to write about Oreo Truffles. I was going to tell you about how yummy and easy they are. Except then, I burned two bags of chocolates. And then one tray of cooling truffles fell on another, smooshing some. And the ones that aren't smoosed? Are still pretty ugly. SO, oreo truffles are not easy (for me, at least) but they are yummy.

So, instead, I'm sharing with you my hair do for the day. Remember how I told you while I get to wash my hair everyday, I rarely dry it? Well, nothing has changed. So, today I tried a new do. This site has a great tutorial which I found through A Cup of Jo.

This
was super easy.

I did it on the kitchen floor, sans mirror, while I played with Meredith. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially for a first attempt. I just threw on some new red lipstick and now I fell ready and cute for my first birthday celebration of the year- lunch with my husband and baby. What could be better?!

Hair!

I've written before about my love of loose, curly updos. It's been a while since that post and I still love them just as much. I would also say I've gotten a bit better at doing them. Most likely it's because I am becoming more ok with a less than perfect updo. Also because of tutorials like this. I've done her "Chic and Easy Bun" lots of times. It's super quick and easy with wet hair. And I've told you I have wet hair quite a lot lately.

When I saw Life As We Know It this week, I was very impressed with Katherine Heigl's cute hairdos. I would love to try some of them after having dried my hair with a bit of waviness.

Wish I was a hairdresser (sort of)

i really just wish i was good as styling my hair all fancy-like. i think loose, curly updos are beautiful. buuut, i don't have curly hair, my hair resists holding a curl and minus all that i dont know how to put it up in a bun-like mess and make it look pretty. crud. guess i'll have hair down and straight at the wedding this weekend.
