Mommy time.

In a few short hours, my mom will be touching down here in Boston for the weekend. I am always excited when a visit with her (or any of my family members) is coming, but this time it's different. This time I really need my mom.

I love my life- being a wife, being a mom and preparing for this adventure out west, but sometimes it starts to feel like a lot. Sometimes being an adult isn't all fun and games. In the past month I feel like I've made more big decisions than I ever have- to actually move, which company to hire, which house to live in, etc. I have felt a lot of pressure- to get the house packed up, to see all my friends before moving, to still stay focused and attentive as a mom.

So, really, I just can't wait to see my mom, to be a daughter for a little bit and not the one in charge of making lots of decisions. It's like when you're sick and all you want if for your mom to bring you some chicken noodle soup. This weekend is my healing soup.

a happy first day to my mom!

My mom is in the middle of her first day teaching Kindergarten right now. It's been a whirlwind week from finding out about getting the job, to having an open house the next morning and spending the following 6 days setting up her classroom. I know she's going to make a great Kindergarten teacher. So, happy first day, mom! I love you and I know your little ones already love you, too.

Why God Made Teachers
By Kevin William Huff

When God created teachers,
He gave us special friends
To help us understand His world
And truly comprehend
The beauty and the wonder
Of everything we see,
And become a better person
With each discovery.

When God created teachers,
He gave us special guides
To show us ways in which to grow
So we can all decide
How to live and how to do
What's right instead of wrong,
To lead us so that we can lead
And learn how to be strong.

Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His grace,
Was to help us learn to make our world
A better, wiser place.

to mom. to seester.

mother of the bride

Happy Birthday, Mom. You are a beautiful woman.  Thank you for always being a phone call away, for listening to my rambles, offering your advice and being there for me. You are the reason I feel proud to be a stay-at-home mom. You always made us feel important, loved and supported. Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday, Lyd. I am so proud of who you've become and feel so grateful to be your sister. You are a friend that is easy to be with- whether it's on the phone, shopping, watching TV or taking a walk. There is never pressure to be anything I'm not. You are the most accepting, loving, forgiving person I know. I hope your little look-alike, Meredith, gets not only your looks but those qualities, too.
