my apologies for the heavy weekend posts. who does that on the weekend?? beaktweets does, i guess. for today we have a much lighter, more trivial post :) enjoy.
The other night when Chris was out, I gave myself a pedicure and watched The American President. Even though I own it, when I saw it on Netflix Watch Instantly, I got all giddy. I have literally seen this movie more times than I can count. I'm not even sure why I love it so much, but I really, really do. It's my favorite movie, I think.
Except wait,
I think I like You've Got Mail even better. I've seen that one probably a hundred times. It's my favorite movie to put on in the background, which I did a lot in college. Kathleen Kelly is the sweetest character. I want to be her when I grow up- living in NYC, owning a children's bookshop and being the Storybook Lady. Oh, it would be nice.
How about you? What's your favorite move?

Little Women
One of my very favorite movies is Little Women. I honestly have no idea how many times I've seen it, just that it's been a lot. I love the characters, their relationships and watching them change and mature as they grow up. I always have internal conflict about who the girls will end up with. It's such an interesting time period and I love the politics in the predominately female March family.

One my favorite parts of the movie is the soundtrack. I love listening to it on a quiet morning as I eat breakfast with Meredith or in the evening as I take a bath or read. It's perfectly soothing. And if you are in need of a good cry, this music just might push you over the edge of that choked up precipice.
How about you? What is your movie you can't get enough of? Do you like Little Women?

Oscars!
I'm so excited for the Oscars tonight. Hubs and I are planning on watching them in bed with some warm buffalo chicken dip and brownie sundaes. The only thing that would make tonight better would be a fancy designer dress and a ticket for the red carpet itself. I am no movie aficionado, but I thought I'd share my picks anyway! This year we made a concerted effort to see most of the movies so I actually care about seeing both the dresses and who wins.
Best Picture:
Best Actor:
I loved Colin Firth in this movie. I also just love him in general. I would love him to win.

Best Actress:
I didn't actually see this movie. I don't do thrillers so well, but I have a feeling she's got this one.

Best Supporting Actress:
I loved all the women in this category (except I didn't see Animal Kingdom) but I think Melissa Leo will rock this. I'd also be super happy if Helena Bonham Carter won.
What are your picks? Will you be watching tonight?

Though, I also LOVED Jeff Bridges. I'd be happy for either to win.
Best Supporting Actor:
I really can't decide between these two.

Nothing But Love... (VI)
I'm now onto my sixth celebrity crush. Click here to see the first five. I have a seriously girl crush issue. But, so far, I have good company with those of you who share the love, so I'm going to stop anytime soon.Nicole Kidman is up next. I think she is stunning. I loved her the most in Cold Mountain. She had a bit of color in her cheeks throughout the movie, which made her quite breath-taking.

But, even when she's wearing yet another one of her nude dress ensembles, I think she's beautiful. I like to forget about the fact that she was married to Tom Cruise, and focus instead of the cuteness of her marriage to Keith Urban. They seem to sweet together. I recently saw her on The View and I guess they don't spend more than 3 days apart at a time. While that's a long time for me, I'm sure in their world, it's quite short.

The funny thing about Nicole Kidman, though, is that I really haven't seem that many of her movies. She's like Natalie Portman to me, in that way. I love her and think she's super talented, but a long of her movies are a bit bizarre, dark or scary. And I do NOT do scary.

My two favorites of hers are Moulin Rouge and Cold Mountain. LOVE both of those movies and her in them.

How about you? Do you love Nicole Kidman? What's your favorite movie of hers?

Gratitude: Nov 8
Today I am grateful for the baby friendly movies at the movie theater in my town. Today was my fourth time going. It's so nice to get to see a movie and play with your baby at the same time. Meredith has been so good each time we've gone. I went with a new friend and saw another new friend while there. And the movie was really cute too, which really is just a bonus.
Nothing But Love... (II)

I've written about other celebrity crushes so today I thought I'd share another. Julia Roberts. I love her. She's stunningly gorgeous and doesn't seem to age. I love how seems to have such a perfect blend of being in the limelight but maintaining privacy. I am always intrigued by her. I would love to sneak a peek into her daily life with her kids and husband. She seems down to earth and like someone who would be fun to get coffee with.
And, I love her movies. I'm not sure I can pick a favorite. Steel Magnolias, Pretty Woman, Erin Brockovich, Notting Hill, Stepmom are the first that come to mind. I didn't like Closer. at all. But I think that's her only movie I haven't enjoyed.
And lastly, her laugh. Don't you wish you had such a contagious laugh? I do. Mine's too quiet.
(Skip to 5:08, then watch until 5:44 when you'll hear my favorite laughing scene of hers)

How about you? What's your favorite Julia Roberts movie? Or do you not like her? Any new celebrity crushes lately?

UP!
I just got back from seeing one of my new favorite movies! UP is Pixar's newest movie and it is absolutely the cutest movie. The storyline is precious and the animation is incredible. I don't want to hype it up too much, but you must see it asap! I cried (a lot) and laughed out loud many times. You will not be disappointed. I promise.
