Most Friday nights, Chris and I look at each other and one of us says, "What should we do tomorrow?" Usually the other responds with, "I don't know. I'm up for anything." Almost always we leave it that we'll either go to the beach or San Francisco. It's a hard life we live here in the Bay Area. On Saturday morning, we still couldn't decide so we left it up to Meredith.
"I want to go downtown!" she declared. "And ride the train!"
Well, our plan was set. We scrambled to get ready and rushed to catch the next Caltrain. We enjoyed a fun train ride up to the city and then strolled the mile and a half up to the Ferry Building. We ran around AT&T park, watched the runners and enjoyed views of the bay as we walked. I had my heart set on a donut, since I dropped my bagel getting onto the train. We promptly found the donut spot and then walked out to the Embarcadero to people watch. The donuts were only ok, but the people watching was prime. Kids doing tricks on their bikes, a man playing music on his plastic tub/metal pots drums set and lots of tourists taking pictures.
Soon we headed back towards the train station, planning on a stop at the American Grilled Cheese Kitchen for lunch. The food didn't disappoint. Soon, exhausted, we were headed home on the train, thankful to live so close to such a fun place.
