My mom and sister share a birthday today. Happy Birthday to you both!
I am so grateful for my mom and sister. My mom is my closest friend. We talk almost daily. She listens patiently. She offers advice. I am so excited for her to be here in 3 days to help me as I become a mom for the first time. She is the perfect example for me to follow.
I am also very grateful for my sister. She is very special to me. She is lots of fun. She not afraid to be herself. She is also not afraid to make her own path from time to time. We share a love of Harry Potter, Dave Matthews Band and beach days. Even from afar, I know she'll be a great aunt :)
So, again, Happy Birthday to two of my favorite ladies. Wondering if maybe there will be a third family member to share your birthday with :)
This here boy (or I guess I should say, MAN) is one of my absolute favorite people on earth- my brother Joe. Today he turns 21! I am so excited for this big milestone for him. I am also so excited he will be here, with me, in 5 short days.
He is the best brother a girl could ask for. He makes me laugh. He is incredibly thoughtful. He is amazingly creative and artistically talented. He is confident in who he is, even when that is maybe a little different than his peers.
He loves his family passionately and is fiercely loyal. I dream of living down the street from him and his beautiful wife and gorgeous children (the latter two of which don't quite exist yet) because that would make my wonderful life even more complete.
So, Happy 21st Birthday, Joe! Rain check on birthday drinks :)
...For the Olsen Twins. Seriously. I have loved them for as long as I can remember. It's a weird obsession. I think it's mostly that they stay out of the limelight. They aren't plastered all over billboards, filling up pages of People or jamming radio waves with gossip. They are beautiful. Their fashion is somewhat crazy. They seem somewhat weird. But, I love them. And always will. do you have any celebrity crush?
This is true. I know it to be true and the people on the sidewalk and in the stores that give me googledy eyes as i waddle by know it to be true. I love it :)
With the due date 9 days away it's hard not to feel like we're just waiting for contractions to kick in or for my water to break. We are so excited and so ready for our baby's arrival. So, I'm trying to keep busy and distracted with other things.
Things like:
-baking blueberry pie and blueberry buckle -dessert night with our birth class -dinner at our house with friends -39 week midwife appointment -hopefully seeing Toy Story 3 -lots of walks -my parents' arrival in 8 days! -seeing Eclipse with my mom
I am totally counting today as Chris's first father's day. True, he hasn't held our baby girl in his arms yet, but he is already in love with her and is eagerly awaiting her arrival. I can't wait to see Chris as a dad. I know he is going to be amazing. He will be lots of fun, full of patience, eager to learn and willing to be silly and out of his element.
It's crazy to think that this young boyfriend of mine grew up to become my husband and a father! Life is good :)
My latest favorite song. Such a fun jam. If you haven't heard it yet, do yourself a favor and check it out :)

Tonight the belly, the hubby and I are headed to Dave Matthews Band. This is (I think) my 12 or so time seeing them and the excitement never dwindles. They are such a fun band to see live. This is my first time seeing the whole band with Chris. We've only seen Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds together. So, I thought I'd pay tribute to my other concert buddies- my dad and my sister. My dad took me to my first concert when I was 8, I think, to see Neil Young. He also took my to my first, and several other, Dave Matthews concerts. I'm hoping for a Neil Young cover tonight, just to make me smile and think of my dad. The band's been doing Needle and the Damage Done so my fingers are crossed!
Farm Aid September 2008
Lydia is my other Dave Matthews concert buddy. This is one of my favorite pictures of us. This was a crazy night. We fended off drunk, middle-aged super creeps at the show and later celebrated Lydia's 21st birthday in style (with more middle-aged super creeps, come to think of it) on Newbury St. DMB June 2008
So, with much excitement and anticipation, I'm off to see Dave Matthews perform his magic hoping to hear, more than anything else, Why I Am, off his newest album. With a tiny bit of sadness I'm wishing my original concert buddies were here to share in the fun.
I've been dreaming about running. Running fast, running long. Running in fresh air and being able to take in a full breath of the crispness. Running and feeling strength in my leg muscle, not fatigue. I think my body is feeling weighed down. I want to run again, but know that walking is my limit for now. But not for always.
