our weekend.

This weekend was needed. We started off exhausted. Physically from the care and keeping of two little people and emotionally from all the news in Boston. But,we were also craving adventure and fun family memories. Saturday was low-key. It was marked by sweet moments with the kids and those moments of irritation with your spouse that occur when you are both tired and lacking the grace necessary for the relationship to run smoothly. We ended the day with dinner with friends and while I wasn't sure I had the energy to do it, I am so glad we did. It was one of those nights when I barely held the baby and Meredith was entertained with a swimming pool and kindhearted older kids. While the kids were cared for, we too were cared for in the form of frozen margaritas and adult conversation. We left refreshed.

Sunday started with the weekly scramble and stress of getting out the door for church and wrapped up with a perfect family outing to San Francisco. We stopped at Bernal Heights Park, wandered around the Mission, ate dinner at Puerto Alegre, strolled to Delores Park and ended the night as every night should end, with ice cream from Bi-Rite. Of course, by the time our car rolled into the driveway, much past the kids' bedtime, we were all four exhausted. But not in the way we started the weekend. We were exhausted from stretching our legs, giving hugs and cuddles and taking in the sights and sounds of a city we've come to love.

Lovely set of shots - I especially like the third one with 'little' Mere looking at the scenery. Also, you can really see how cute her haircut is in a couple of these shots!
