The little baby that could

IMG_7626 IMG_7627 IMG_7625 IMG_7624

I told you earlier in the week that Meredith took her first steps last week. As you can imagine, Meredith didn't succeed on her first try nor has she succeeded every time that she's attempted steps since. In fact, she's only managed to not fall after taking steps once or twice. And yet, she is not deterred.

For the past week or so, I have watched my baby toddler and learned. I have been reminded and encouraged to keep on trying. To not give up so easily. Far and away, Meredith has failed in her attempts to take steps than she has succeeded. But with her determination, she is making progress and has a handful of moments to be so very, very proud of.

Unlike my sweet girl, I am quick to give up. Someone doesn't act excited to become friends? I'm done. I have a bad run in March and I never run again. I struggle to eat in a healthy way and completely give up on even trying.  I forget to respond to an email and then I feel guilty and awkward and then I hesitate to ever try again.

But no more. For my sake and for Meredith's, I am going to fight to try harder and not give up so easily. I don't want to be a quitter. And I certainly don't want Meredith to be a quitter. I watch her and hope and pray she holds on to her determined spirit.

My dear Meredith, thank you for trying and trying and trying. Thank you for your "I think I can, I think I can" attitude. You are helping your mama become a stronger, more confident person.

What a wise little one you've raised. Awesome lessons from the tiny tot.

Very sweet lesson from a sweet little one - and I could relate to pretty much everything you said. Sometimes I guess we find inspiration in the smallest packages :)

Cutie! I love how you related this. I'm sure it's hard balancing everything as a stay at home mom as well. Since all I have is work, husband, and social time, it's easier to stay dedicated. I totally get you on giving up easily with new friendships though (so over always being the one initiating).

It's not to late to sign up for a half marathon and train with me though ;)

I've noticed this in Emily too, and I am very similar to you... They have so much to teach us.
