Whale Watch **Photos added

For Mother's Day, we planned a day in Gloucester with my mom- going to brunch and going on a whale watch. We did it yesterday, and I have to say it was one of the most fun days of my life. We had a great time just spending time with my parents, but the whale watch was incredible. If you have the chance to do one, you have to. It is well worth it.

We saw quite a few whales and fairly close up. Seeing these enormous creatures was amazing. I also really enjoyed the adventure of looking for whales. It was so much fun to strain your eyes out over the quiet ocean waters, just hoping to see a blowspout or a fin pop out of the water. The pictures can tell it much better than me, so enjoy.
We first saw Minke whales. They were far off in the distance and resembled dolphins.

For a while, there were three humpback whales hanging out near out boat.

We got to see a couple really good tail flukes, which is how researchers keep track of which whale is which (they all have names!).

On the way in we had an unusual chance to see a basking shark! Basking sharks are the second biggest shark. It just floated around with its mouth wide open while it filtered in food. SO COOL!If you look closely, you'll see a light green area in the water- that's the sharks GINORMOUS mouth opening up for food.
