A prayer for peace

When I woke up today I heard the news. News about the death of a man you will one day learn about in history class. A man who was responsible for one of the worst days in our nation's history, another thing you will one day learn about. When you ask me about it after school one day I will tell you I was in high school squatting down at my locker when I heard the news about that horrible day. My family was safe, but I felt scared. Maybe I will also tell you I was nursing you when I heard he had died. I will tell you a wave of relief flooded over me. I will tell you then I prayed. I prayed that this day would lead to days of peace and less fighting. It's hard to imagine, but today I am hoping and praying that one day when you ask me about September 11th the world will be a less war-torn place.

ps. I am guest posting over here today. Be sure to check the blog and her line of cards out.
